Checklist for planning international trip

I am traveling to India next week. So I am excited for my trip, but I want to make sure I carry all required things. So I made a checklist. Traveling abroad is fun, but if everything planned well and no end moment surprises. Check out my International trip checklist to make your trip memorable.

1. Check your Passport

You will think what to check in passport right? Most important thing is expiration date of passport. In some country when you apply for a visa, your passport should valid for at least six months, otherwise your visa will not get approved. So better check the expiration date and if it gets expired than apply for renewal. The renewal of passport will take 5-15 days.

2. Necessary visa

Do check out the visa procedures. In some countries they have on arrival visa, so you don't have to apply earlier. But even though it's on arrival visa, do check which documents you have to carry. In some country you have to apply for a visa before you reach there. So find out visa procedures and make the necessary arrangements.

3. Travel documents

You might be using electronic gadget to keep all your documents in one place, but you never know when it fails. I would suggest you to get printouts of all required documents. Also get a copy of your passport and visa, because by mistake if you lost your passport than these copies will help you to get the new one.

4. Embassy and emergency details

You have to prepare a list of contact details. Find out embassy details of your country, in case you need to contact them. If you need help than whom to contact with? Also list out some home country contact details and keep this list with you all the time.

5. First aid box

Prepare first aid box at home with basic medicine and other medical supplies. Take a light weight small bag for the first aid box. Keep medicines for cold, flue, sore throat, headache, pain killers, etc. Also don't forget to take cotton, antiseptic, bandage, scissor. If you have any medical condition than get your medicine in advance, and also keep the doctor's prescription with you.

6. Travel insurance

There are different type of Travel insurances. It depends how much coverage you want. Some travel insurance intended to cover your medical expenses as well as lost luggage, trip cancellation and flight accident. It depends on you how much coverage you want. Be sure to take travel insurance which includes medical expenses.

7. Prepare your finances

First step for financial planning is finding out the currency of the destination country and conversation rate. Now decide which form of payment you will use cash, credit card, check etc. If you are planning to use Credit card then inform your bank about your trip. Because if bank sees foreign transaction without notice than might suspend the transaction or freeze your card.

8. Get knowledge of local language

Find out the language spoken in the destination country. Try to learn basic phrases used there, like "good morning", "hi", "thank you" etc. If you are staying longer than you can buy books or dictionary to learn the language.

9. Local map

The GPS and navigation system will be great, but network and wifi are crucial. So better to keep a map handy. You can buy city map or all in one map book. It will help you to find out direction and also easy to ask someone about the place.

10. Packing smart

Don't just dump everything in your bag. Check out the weather and living conditions. Choose proper attire according to weather and the activities you will do. Also avoid unnecessary stuff and don't required that way you can keep your luggage weight under the limit.

Best Valentine's Day gifts for travel lovers

Valentine's Day is less than a week away. Travelers might not so crazy about Valentine's Day but it feels good when someone thinks about you. Isn't it? So I decided to list out the gift ideas for travel person. These are some things which they can use during their trip. It will keep reminding them your love and make them blush even they far away.

Bag pack

I personally prefer "Travel light". So instead of packing an over-sized, bulky bag I prefer bag pack for short travel. The major benefit of this, you don't have to wait for baggage claim, so ultimately you save time. Selecting bag pack can be crucial. There are different sizes and brands all around the world.
Checklist to select a bag pack:-

  • The quality
  • how much weight it can carry?
  • Number of pockets
  • Warranty

Most of the travelers keep some sort of Diary or Planner. Why they keep it? When you traveling different places, you might not remember everything about each place. So better to keep a planner with you in which you can note down the details about place, booking details, confirmation number and travel itinerary. You can also mark the dates of your traveling so plans for next travel can become easy. Before choosing planner keep in mind it should be light weight and small but enough to note down the details. Don't buy it big or heavy, it will ultimately increase the baggage weight.

Travel kit

Generally, I don't take risk to depend on others, so that I carry all required things in my travel kit. It's not necessary, you buy a travel kit as whole. You can also customize the travel kit. So list out the things you required in a Kit and decide the size of the kit.
Things you required to customize the kit:-

  1. Nice pouch or bag,
  2. Empty bottles for shampoo, conditioner, lotion, etc.
  3. Scissor,
  4. Cotton,
  5. Bandages,
  6. Comb
  7. Wet wipes
  8. Perfume
Music player and headphones

The gift receiver is a music lover than music player can be a great gift. It can be great company during the solo trips. You can also upload all her favorite songs before give her a gift. She will love it.

All in one travel wallet

When you travel very first thing you need is your tickets. So get the all in one wallet, which is big enough to keep your tickets, ID card and money. Remember, don't choose a larger wallet. It should be just big enough to carry your required things and keep it light.

Selfie stick

Selfie stick is a great thing to take pictures. Specially for lone travelers it can be a great gift. You can take pictures from all different angles. Isn't it fun? You don't have to find a person to take your picture. And don't have to worry about the background is missing or you seem too close to the camera. So carry your Selfie stick and enjoy the photo shoot.

World Globe

Travelers like to keep track of their adventures. Many travelers mark the places they had visited in different ways. One of the exciting way is to get a world globe. And pin it the places you have visited. Even I like to use different colors for pin as well.

World globe
Airplane bottle holder

This is a great gift for the wine lovers as well. The Wine rack is very common, but this holder will look unique in your kitchen. The Airplane will indicate your passion for traveling. You can find it online on Amazon or wayfair. There are available in different designs and colors as well, but this one is my favorite.

Bottle holder

I know you can download compass app on your phone and use it. But there are chances that in urgent need, your cell phone's battery can die. So better to have one handy. If you missed your route, then you can easily find out the direction through Compass.
